Libraries using Rialto will soon be able to acquire ebook content from The Digital Theological Library (DTL), a non-profit organization that operates digital libraries supporting religious studies communities worldwide. Through Rialto’s PubDirect program, libraries will be able to discover and purchase content available through DTL Commons, the DTL’s ebook platform, within their existing acquisitions workflow.

Founded in 2015, the DTL is a non-profit organization co-owned by approximately 100 seminaries. It serves Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities and provides access to religious studies content from a range of publishers and authors.

“Religious studies collections often include valuable content from specialized publishers that can be harder for libraries to discover and acquire through traditional channels,” said Judith Fraenkel, Director, Product Management, Clarivate. “Making DTL content available through Rialto will give libraries another way to identify and acquire materials that support teaching, learning and research in this field.”

DTL Commons currently hosts ebooks published by the DTL, small religious presses and independent authors, along with titles from other publishers. The platform includes around 100 ebooks published by the DTL and its partners and approximately 250 additional ebook titles from other publishers.

“A great of important religious studies content is still only available in print, so the DTL is thrilled to partner with Clarivate and to make this important digital content available to Rialto libraries. Our collections are growing rapidly as we work with small presses to host their published works as ebooks on our platform and available via Rialto.” said Thomas E. Phillips, Executive Director, DTL

The addition of DTL content will give Rialto libraries access to another source of specialized religious studies materials while allowing DTL content to be discovered alongside the broader range of resources already available through the platform.

Stay tuned for future announcements on the availability of DTL content in Rialto and the expanded opportunities this partnership will bring to libraries and publishers alike.
