This year’s theme, Pearls of Technology: Think Deeply, Explore Widely, sets the stage for conversations about one of the key questions facing libraries today: how to embrace innovation while continuing to deliver meaningful value to users.

Returning to APAC for the first time since 2019, IGeLU 2026 brings together the global Ex Libris community to explore how libraries are responding to some of the most important questions facing the profession today. From October 19–22 in Taipei, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with colleagues and experts from across EMEA, APAC, and beyond.

What will you learn at IGeLU 2026? From academic AI in libraries and automation to discovery and metadata management, the conference covers many of the topics shaping library software today. Attendees will also hear directly from peers sharing real-world experiences, lessons learned, and practical approaches to common challenges.

Sessions you won’t want to miss this year reflect a shift taking place across the profession. Libraries are increasingly being asked to demonstrate their contribution to student success, research, and institutional goals, not just report on traditional usage metrics. Sessions such as Growing Forward, Together: Navigating Change, Delivering Impact and Evolving with Change: Trends, Impact and What’s Next for Libraries will explore how libraries are responding to growing budget pressures, changing user behaviors, and the rapid rise of AI.

The conversation then moves from strategy to implementation. Alma AI Overview: Assistants, Agents, and the Path Forward will showcase practical AI applications already being introduced into library workflows, while Building AI Agents with Library Open Workflows offers a glimpse of what comes next: AI-powered agents that can connect systems, automate multi-step processes, and help libraries do more with existing resources. Together, these sessions provide a valuable snapshot of where libraries are today, and where many are heading next. See the full program here.
