Clarivate™ welcomed more than 60 library staff in Manila for the second Philippines Ex Libris™ Day 2024 on September 26-27, reflecting a strategic commitment to work closer with and bring together the growing Ex Libris™ community in the APAC region. Interactive sessions over the course of the two days provided attendees opportunity to gain insight into the latest developments across Ex Libris services and learn from their colleagues.
The highlight of the first day was a panel discussion between library staff from Mapua University and the University of Asia who are using the Alma and Primo unified library services platform. The insightful discussion offered the audience a deep dive on the journey of moving to Alma from a local library system. The guest speakers provided detailed information around implementation timelines, challenges they faced before moving to Alma, and the advantages of streamlining processes through Alma and Primo brought to the library after streamlining all their processes into one system.
“It’s fantastic to have a great turnout by the community so they can share their experiences about Alma and our other Ex Libris solutions,” said Anamika Chourasia, Senior Director of Segment Sales, Clarivate™. “So many talked about the extreme costs they incurred to maintain their previous systems and how Alma is the best fit to reduce their expenses by better managing their collections and data, delivering a low-maintenance solution, and aligning their staff.”
The second day primarily focused on further educating attendees on Alma through hands-on workshops. Interactive sessions and candid discussions between peers helped users better understand how to optimize Alma, use it to address library resource management challenges, and exchange ideas and share best practices to simplify day-to-day operations.
Participants also delved into other topics, besides Alma, throughout the event. Of particular interest were details about the latest AI-developments at Clarivate™, resource sharing, and the rising need to focus on student engagement.
