Ex Libris™ customers gathered in several user group events in Latin America the past few months to gain insight as to best practices to move their libraries forward. Since the beginning of June more than 200 users have come together in Costa Rica, Peru, Colombia, and Argentina to share ideas, see what’s new, and get to know and learn from each other.

Each user group meeting program featured a combination of topics discussed by both library and Clarivate™ staff. This included key sessions on the expanding use, success, and improvements of Alma and Primo, the application and adoption of AI and Linked Open Data in those tools, and the added value that Rapido, Leganto, and campusM bring to libraries today.

Beyond talking about library software applications and approaches users were also able to spend time socializing with one another, seeing familiar faces and meeting new colleagues, given the fact attendance was significant at each of the following locations:

  • Colombia – 40 attendees congregated at Universidad de los Andes on June 13-14
  • Peru – 48 attendees came together the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas on June 18
  • Costa Rica – 76 attendees met together at Universidad de Costa Rica on August 9
  • Argentina – 47 attendees gathered at Universidad de San Andrés on August 27

In future months, key Ex Libris user group events are scheduled in Chile, on October 10 at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, and in Mexico, from December 5-6, at Universidad Panamericana.

The success of the LATAM user community gatherings aligns with the continued adoption of Ex Libris services, primarily driven by the Alma library management system, as libraries in the region continue to focus on better addressing current and future needs.
