The XXVII Annual Meeting of the Ex Libris™ Users Group in Mexico brought together library professionals and experts to discuss the latest advancements and future directions in library technology. More than 60 attendees from 15 libraries attended the event to gain insight into the importance of emerging technologies such as AI, the value of practical tools, and several strategic service implementations.

 

Throughout the event, attendees participated in a series of informative presentations that highlighted significant technological advancements. One session discussed “Three Technological Applications for 21st Century University Libraries,” focusing on modern solutions for library management. This presentation underscored the importance of integrating advanced technology to meet the evolving needs of library users. Another session introduced “Inventio Reinvents Itself,” showcasing new developments in library technology.

 

“The enduring success of Ex Libris in Mexico stems from a collaborative and engaged community eager to share and learn from one another,” remarked Alfredo Bronsoiler, Regional Sales Director, Clarivate™. “The discussions and presentations went beyond technology, emphasizing how both technology and community can significantly impact library operations, staff, and users, ultimately helping them succeed.”

 

Other sessions focused on the use of practical tools and applications. One presentation discussed the “Metadata Transfer from ALMA to Hyrax: Colmex Theses,” detailing the technical processes involved. Another session covered how RapidILL, as a resource-sharing solution, can streamline acquisition processes and improve budget management, offering valuable insights for library administrators.

 

 

The program also included a reflective session titled “And After 30 Years, Alma Arrives…” which shared experiences and the significant impact of adopting the Alma library management system. Two other sessions focused on enhancing user experiences through Primo and improving accessibility.

 

The XXVII Annual Meeting of the Ex Libris Users Group in Mexico represented yet another forward-thinking regional community of library professionals successfully coming together to exchange ideas and focus on their ongoing commitment to innovation in library services.
