Ex Libris™, part of Clarivate™, is excited to announce that Randolph College has gone live with the Alma and Primo unified library services platform. Located in the heart of Virginia in Lynchburg, with just over 800 full-time enrolment and 7 library staff members, Randolph’s Lipscomb Library’s system upgrade to Alma and Primo positions it to better facilitate access to information resources and address library staff needs.

The small library adopted Alma and Primo as a modern, full-featured approach to replace an aging system that was lacking functionality and development resources. Randolph College library staff identified ease of use and robust functionality as two critical decision factors for selecting the system, with both becoming evident during the library’s evaluation stage and then immediately after going live.

“I just have to say the functionality won me over. When we got into the demos, I just saw that it was going to be infinitely easier to use than what we already had for my library staff,” said Lisa Broughman, Director of the Lipscomb Library and Systems Administrator. “When I started ordering and invoicing, I was amazed that it’s only taking me a few steps instead of such a rigid workflow.”

Over the course of the library’s implementation its staff discovered that there were more benefits to their decision beyond the superior product-level functionality and opportunities provided by both Alma and Primo. The well-structured professional services migration and training delivered by Ex Libris™ also provided the library assurance they’ve made the right choice in organizations to work with.

Broughman further commented, “The implementation was paced at a reasonable level that wasn’t overwhelming, especially for someone who basically was doing a solo implementation and migration. We received the training I needed in the right order and at the time frame. They tailored everything for our needs and my staff didn’t have any major lingering questions because they felt like they received exactly what they needed to know to use the product.”

Now live with Alma and Primo, the Randolph College library staff are excited about the opportunities ahead to explore all the capabilities of their new system and benefit from future enhancements that come with a planned, feature-rich development roadmap.
