The University was the first Aleph user in China and has now selected Alma as its next-generation library management platform
Beijing, China—December 19, 2016. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that Beijing Normal University (BNU) has opted for the Ex Libris Alma® library management service. The University has been using the Ex Libris Aleph® integrated library system since 2000, when it became the first university in China to adopt the system.
BNU chose Alma to provide a unified workflow for BNU’s print, electronic, and digital resources. The open architecture of Alma, its rich and expanding collection of APIs, and Alma’s cloud-based platform were essential factors in BNU’s decision.
Professor Zhang Qiwei, library director of BNU, explained, ”It is crucial for us to integrate our currently diverse library systems so that we will be able to manage all our collections—print, electronic, and digital—within a single system. We also expect the Alma usage data and analytics to make our decision-making process more effective so that we can optimize our collection development and patron services.
”Throughout our 16-year collaboration with Ex Libris, the superior service and support we have received reinforce our confidence that we can depend on the company to take our library into the future. We look forward to many more productive years with Ex Libris!”
Ziv BenZvi, vice president of Ex Libris Asia Pacific, noted, ”It is particularly satisfying to welcome BNU to the Alma community as our long-standing partnership continues to grow. With Alma, BNU will increase the efficiency of its library in both resource management and collection development.”
