Loughborough University and the University of Plymouth leverage the campusM Attendance feature to empower learners and identify students in need of help
Jerusalem, Israel—July 28, 2021. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the Attendance feature of the Ex Libris campusM™ mobile app and web portal has thus far captured over six million student check-ins globally.
The campusM Attendance feature enables students to check in to classes through their institution’s campusM mobile app or desktop portal. Personalized push notifications from the mobile app remind students of an upcoming class and display their attendance record through an intuitive dashboard.
Over the past year, the adoption of campusM Attendance has accelerated as universities look for reliable ways to track and follow up on remote attendance. With students returning in varying capacities to campuses, the Attendance functionality will continue to deliver critical engagement data that universities can use to develop better virtual learning policies and identify students who are struggling.
The United Kingdom’s Loughborough University sees 10,000 daily check-ins on average during school terms. “The Attendance technology has helped us measure and maintain student engagement as we navigate the complexities of hybrid in-person and remote learning,” said Loughborough University Middleware and Library Systems Manager Gary Brewerton. “While we knew that the technology could benefit students who are learning in-house, we were surprised to see how many students asked to check in to virtual events. Our students are eager to demonstrate that they’re showing up and putting in the work, and the Attendance feature lets them do so easily.”
“The campusM Attendance feature has helped us empower our students,” said Digital Experience & Platforms Manager Rupert Frankum at the UK’s University of Plymouth, which sees an average of 4,500 daily check-ins during school terms. “Students like to be in control of their check-ins and to get immediate feedback on their attendance. On the administrative side, the data from the Attendance technology is one metric that we use to measure student engagement and drive wellness outreach. When a student misses a certain number of check-ins, that’s a good indicator that we need to find out whether everything is okay.”
“The real-time data captured by the Attendance feature gives universities insight into student engagement trends while enabling administrators to quickly detect and support students in need,” commented Ex Libris Director of Product Strategy for Student Digital Solutions Matthew Sherlock. “We are thrilled that throughout the uncertainties of the pandemic, universities have been leveraging the campusM Attendance technology to drive new engagement strategies and promote student well-being.”
