Primo will provide a unified search interface for the University’s multiple libraries and locations Chicago, IL—September 19, 2012. Ex Libris® Group, a global leader in library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that Central Michigan University (CMU) has selected the Primo® discovery and delivery solution, with the Primo Central Index of scholarly e-resources, and the bX Recommender. Primo, which will be deployed as a cloud-based service, will provide the user interface for the university’s Millennium library system. CMU Libraries carried out an intensive evaluation process before concluding that Primo best meets their requirements, with its powerful relevance ranking, extensive central index, and personalized ranking of the search results, based on the user’s academic level and discipline. Among the Primo system’s many strengths, library managers welcome its flexibility, which will enable the staff to continually customize and configure the system. ”Primo will completely refresh the user experience across our vast library network,” commented Thomas Moore, dean of libraries at CMU. ”While searching the full spectrum of our local collections and remote resources, users will be able to refine their results by including and excluding facet values. We are also excited to offer, in the search results, recommendations about scholarly articles via the bX Recommender.” Mark Triest, president of Ex Libris North America, commented: ”This is an important decision for CMU, and we are honored to be selected as partners in their campaign to improve the user experience and intensify the usage of their resources. We are looking forward to extending the Primo community in Michigan and building ties with additional institutions in the region.” About Central Michigan University Central Michigan University, located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, was established as a school for teacher and business education in 1892.
