Powerful analytics, automated workflows, and a single search platform made Ex Libris a winning combination for ETSU
Chicago, IL—December 17, 2014. Ex Libris Group®, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that Sherrod Library at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and Northeast State Community College (NeSCC) have together selected a suite of Ex Libris solutions, comprised of the Alma® resource management solution, the Primo® discovery and delivery solution, and the bX® article recommender service. ETSU is replacing a number of legacy systems including Innovative Interfaces Sierra.
ETSU’s Sherrod Library selected Alma and Primo to provide an integrated platform for discovery, linking, electronic resource management, and traditional library system functions, all delivered via the cloud. The solutions’ cloud-based architectures ensure that library staff members are freed from routine maintenance, while new functionality is regularly made available without the need for upgrades to be performed on-site. The library was also keen to adopt a solution that would integrate with third-party systems for authentication, online courses, and procurement. Having used the Ex Libris SFX® OpenURL link resolver for several years, ETSU was confident that the company’s support and hosting services would be provided at a consistently high standard.
Patricia Van Zandt, Dean of the University Libraries, remarked: ”We are excited about supporting our faculty, staff, and students with the functionality and efficiency of Alma and Primo, and look forward to a productive relationship with Ex Libris.”
”Alma is the only commercial product that has been running live in academic libraries for several years, and the user community appears to be very supportive.” Celia Szarejko, Sherrod Library’s Director of Technology and Content Services, noted. ”Our libraries are lean organizations, and we anticipate that our selection of Alma and Primo will improve the library user experience as well as our own operational efficiency.”
”We are pleased to welcome East Tennessee State University and Northeast State Community College to the expanding Alma community,” remarked Eric Hines, President of Ex Libris North America. ”ETSU and NeSCC are committed to supporting teaching and learning through their scholarly resources and the combination of Primo and Alma—complemented by the article recommendations supplied by bX—will ensure that the libraries have the best technological framework to help achieve the institutions’ educational goals.”
