Users will now be able to search Scopus through the Ex Libris Primo Central Index Jerusalem, Israel—October 2, 2012. Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical, and medical information products and services, and Ex Libris® Group, a global leader in the provision of library automation solutions, announced a collaborative initiative that will enable joint customers to search the Scopus® abstracting and indexing database via the Ex Libris Primo Central Index. The cloud-based Primo Central Index is an integral part of the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution, the discovery platform of choice for a rapidly growing global customer community of over 1,000 institutions. In the latest Primo version, a user can personalize the discovery experience by tailoring the relevance ranking of search results to the user’s discipline and academic level. Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed research literature. With more than 19,500 titles from 5,000 international publishers, Scopus offers scholars a comprehensive resource to support their research needs in the scientific, technical, medical, and social sciences fields, as well as in the arts and humanities. ”Expanding the discoverability of Scopus content by researchers is one of our most important goals,” commented Cameron Ross, head of product management for Scopus. ”The Primo Central Index will let Scopus subscribers use their library’s standard search interface to widen their search and quickly find needed information. Researchers at institutions that subscribe to both Scopus and the Primo Central Index will now have access to citation data as well as other in-depth analytical tools that will enable them to achieve better research outcomes. We believe that the Ex Libris strategy to support and promote scholarship through superior technology aligns with our ongoing commitment to advancing scientific research and discovery.” ”This latest agreement with Elsevier is a significant achievement for Ex Libris and its customer community,” remarked David Beychok, the vice president of discovery and delivery solutions at Ex Libris. ”Enabling Primo Central users to locate the extensive abstract and citation data offered in Scopus will improve the discovery experience for many thousands of researchers worldwide. After our successful collaboration with Elsevier to index the full text of ScienceDirect in Primo Central and to include bX recommendations in the ScienceDirect and Scopus interfaces, we are pleased to strengthen our ties with the company through the upcoming incorporation of Scopus into Primo Central.” About Scopus Covering the world’s research literature, Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature.
