Alma Mobile brings library activity to staffers wherever they are, increasing ease-of-use, productivity, and efficiency
Jerusalem, Israel—June 24, 2016. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is proud to announce that its Alma library management service now enables librarians to access Alma from anywhere, using a mobile device.
The new mobile capabilities are being rolled out gradually, with the first version now available for early-access users. A general release for all Alma users is planned for the third quarter of 2016.
Alma Mobile will significantly improve libraries’ operational efficiency. Librarians can now access task lists and perform fulfillment activities on the go, even scanning item barcodes to register in-house use from anywhere in the library. Built on a flexible advanced mobile-application framework, Alma Mobile will grow to include more features, such as work-order processing, item returns, the creation and processing of sets, inventory management, and even mobile analytics.
Bar Veinstein, Ex Libris vice president of resource management, commented, ”Alma Mobile aligns with our strategy of providing modern, advanced services to our customers. The open-platform capabilities of Alma have enabled us to develop a flexible mobile solution that will increase librarians’ productivity, giving them the freedom to move around the library and access the rich Alma functionality wherever they are.”
