The new Library Mobile app is integrated with the leading Ex Libris Alma, Primo, Leganto, and Summon library products and includes out-of-the-box features such as push notifications and an event scheduling feature
Jerusalem, Israel—July 07, 2021. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is excited to announce the launch of its new Library Mobile™ app for libraries. A companion to the Ex Libris campusM™ university app, Library Mobile is designed to simplify communication between libraries and patrons and to provide easy smartphone access to library resources.
In the aftermath of a complicated 18 months and with many institutions still in the planning stages of in-person, hybrid, and remote learning models for the upcoming academic year, the question of how higher-education libraries engage with their patrons has become more acute.
With the Library Mobile app, academic libraries have a native mobile app of their own to increase patron engagement and satisfaction.
Ex Libris library solutions are informed by the expertise of librarian partners and the requirements of the populations that the libraries serve. Thus, to deliver powerful functionality, the developers of Library Mobile drew on conversations with librarians, students, instructors, and researchers and applied best practices learned from implementing the campusM university app.
Library Mobile takes into consideration a library user’s academic degree, field of study, and other information that the user has opted to make available to the library, enabling librarians to direct library content and event notifications to those individuals for whom such data would be particularly relevant. With the app’s no-code Creative Studio content builder and push notifications, librarians can easily create and send content that is customized for different patron groups.
Library Mobile brings new library services to the smartphone, including the display of library account information, library hours, a digital student ID, pocket guides, library maps, and reading lists. The app’s seamless integration with the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform, Primo® and Summon® discovery tools, and Leganto® course resource list solution provides patrons with on-the-go access to library resources.
“The missing pieces of the digital library strategy have been the smartphone and the mobile app,” said Ex Libris Corporate Vice President of Student Digital Solutions Ido Peled. “Mobile technologies and their applications offer innovative ways of engaging with end users. With the Library Mobile app, academic libraries have a native mobile app of their own to increase patron engagement and satisfaction.”
