Content providers and publishers integrate their content with the rapidly growing Primo Central Index of scholarly e-resources
Jerusalem, Israel—January 4, 2011. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that many additional information providers have recently joined the large group of publishers whose content is indexed in the Primo Central Index of scholarly materials, boosting the discoverability of their content by the research community.
The Primo Central Index is a mega-aggregate of scholarly content. Managed in the Ex Libris cloud environment, the world-class Primo Central Index encompasses hundreds of millions of scholarly resources from leading information providers. The Primo Central Index is offered as an integral part of the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution, enabling library users to enjoy the full benefit of a one-stop service for their information needs and to explore their library’s locally managed collections along with global and regional resources from the Primo Central Index.
Agreements were recently signed with the following content providers to add their collections to the Primo Central Index: Annual Reviews, BioScientifica (Society of Endocrinology), CABI (e-books and reviews), Future Science Group, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Japan Society of Applied Physics, the Physical Society of Japan and Trans Tech Publications. Agreements have also been reached to index additional collections from Brill and Gale.
”We are very happy to be entering into this collaboration with Ex Libris and to be included in the Primo Central Index,” commented Andrea Powell, executive director of publishing at CABI. ”Our aim is to ensure that the material we publish is available to the people who need it, when they need it, and we believe that exposing our content via the Primo Central Index will promote our prominent scholarly resources and expand their visibility.”
”I am delighted to welcome these international content providers to the ever-growing ranks of publishers who are partnering with Primo Central to provide integrated access to their content,” remarked Nancy Dushkin, corporate vice president of discovery and delivery solutions at Ex Libris. ”The Primo Central Index provides a huge collection of authoritative content that is unprecedented in size, scope, and focus. These new partnerships enable us to continue meeting the needs of both content providers and libraries, by increasing the exposure and usage of scholarly material to the research community.”
