North Dakota’s multitype library consortium, ODIN, joins over 1200 institutions that benefit from the Ex Libris cloud environment
Chicago, IL—March 27, 2012. Ex Libris® Group, a global leader in library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the Online Dakota Information Network (ODIN)—run by the North Dakota University System—has moved its installation of the Aleph® integrated library system into the Ex Libris cloud environment. At the same time, ODIN has selected cloud-based implementations of the Primo® discovery and delivery solution and the SFX® OpenURL link resolver.
”There were several compelling reasons for us to move to the cloud,” commented Randall Thursby, chief information officer of the North Dakota University System. ”Migrating our systems to the cloud will allow ODIN staff to concentrate on supporting Aleph and other Ex Libris systems for member libraries while Ex Libris maintains the infrastructure and performs Aleph updates, thereby providing us with the efficiencies that we need to continue operating at current staffing levels.”
Combined with the Primo Central Index, which connects libraries to hundreds of millions of scholarly e-resources, Primo enables users to search the entire spectrum of a library’s collections—both e-resources and physical holdings—through a single point of access and to receive a single list of search results ranked by Primo’s proprietary ScholarRank™ technology.
