The Ex Libris solutions will facilitate access to the Library’s rich collections and will integrate seamlessly with the Library’s Aleph library system
London, UK—September 23, 2014. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that The London Library—a literary library active for over 170 years—has selected the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution and SFX® OpenURL link resolver. These solutions will play a central role in enabling the Library to meet its strategic aims of improving support for research and making its collections more visible to members and prospective members.
With the adoption of Primo and SFX, The London Library will be able to provide a user-facing catalog of books from its extensive collections, as well as content from diverse online databases and e-journals. Users will enjoy easy access to library services, such as requests and loans, directly from the search interface. The Library has been running the Aleph integrated library system (ILS) for over 10 years and is keen to continue collaborating with Ex Libris.
Inez Lynn, Librarian and Chief Executive of The London Library, commented: ”The Library aims to make its collections, services, and facilities available to meet the needs of a broad spectrum of readers, many of whom have no other access to collections with the depth and reach of those found in universities or specialist institutes. Primo and SFX will open up a whole new world of discovery for readers in search of knowledge or inspiration, contributing not only to enhanced research, whether professional or amateur, but also to the creativity of the many writers and artists among our membership. We are grateful for the generous donation that has enabled us to take this step, and we look forward to working with Ex Libris on this exciting project.”
Ex Libris Regional Sales Director Christoph Frech remarked: ”We are delighted that such a historic library will soon be offering its users a cutting-edge discovery interface. The London Library’s choice of Primo and SFX clearly demonstrates how crucial a user-friendly discovery solution is to the success of all research libraries, as well as to academic libraries.”
