Sasso Marconi, Italy—24. September 2014. Ex Libris Group® is pleased to announce that users of the Network Inter Library Document Exchange (NILDE) can now seamlessly access documents via the Ex Libris SFX OpenURL link resolver.
Used by over 800 Italian, Spanish, and Greek libraries, NILDE is a document delivery system that allows libraries to request and provide documents to each other. SFX simplifies the process significantly for both the user, who quickly receives access to the desired item, and the library staff, who can easily check where the item is available from, request it from another library and supply it.
Silvana Mangiaracina, head of the library of the regional office of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Bologna and NILDE team leader, comments: “We have always attached great importance to the integration between document delivery services and electronic resources that libraries provide to the end users . The availability of information resources in electronic format changed the expectations and behavior of users. This agreement is an important step that delivers benefits to libraries that use both SFX and NILDE, leading to improved workflows, reduced manual intervention, and a high-quality service to fully satisfy user needs.”
Liliana Morotti, General Manager at Ex Libris, remarked: ”The integration of NILDE with SFX clearly demonstrates the openness and interoperability of Ex Libris products. We enjoy excellent collaboration with the CNR and we continue to work with them on more opportunities to integrate NILDE with Ex Libris solutions.”
About NILDE (Network for Inter Library Document Exchange):
NILDE was established in 2001 by The Library of the Area of CNR (Italian National Research Council) in Bologna. NILDE was the name given to software for the service of Document Supply and Inter-Library Loans, around which a community of libraries has formed, who are prepared to share their bibliographic resources in the spirit of reciprocal collaboration. NILDE is therefore both a web-based application for the management of Interlibrary Loan, and a network of libraries within which member libraries can freely request and supply documents for reciprocal exchange.
