The Primo discovery and delivery solution will empower Queensland State Library users via a single library knowledge sharing interface
Adelaide, Australia – June 26, 2008. Ex Libris (Australia) is pleased to announce that the State Library of Queensland (SLQ) has selected the Company’s Primo® discovery and delivery solution to serve as an easy to use, single-search interface for widely sharing the State Library’s valuable print, digital, audio, film, and licensed e-resources collections. Primo Web 2.0 characteristics were among the key features that led the State Library of Queensland to decide on this solution.
‘The State Library of Queensland is committed to the belief that an empowered and progressive society depends on creative thinking and the sharing of knowledge,” explains Lea Giles-Peters, state librarian.
”Primo will enable the State Library of Queensland to provide improved access to millions of items in our extensive Collection, ranging from books and manuscripts to music scores, films and pictures. Client feedback clearly pointed to a desire for a simpler and user-friendly solution to accessing the vast array of State Library online resources. Through a single interface clients can now comment on, tag, and review these items. We believe that Primo is the ideal solution to offer our online services and resources to Queenslanders and the wider global community.”
”We are delighted that SLQ has selected Primo to present its diverse collections to the public,” commented Douglas Barnard, managing director, Ex Libris Australasia. ”A long-time user of the Voyager integrated library system, the State Library of Queensland will also be implementing the SFX® OpenURL link server, MetaLib® gateway and metasearch portal, and DigiTool® digital asset management system, all from Ex Libris. We believe that Primo functionality is well suited to the needs of state libraries throughout Australia and hope to see Primo implemented in other such institutions in the very near future.”
