UCM has adopted Alma and Primo to satisfy the growing need for user access to electronic information for teaching, learning, and research
Chicago, Illinois—August 15, 2018. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of Central Missouri (UCM) has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution to replace the university’s Innovative Sierra integrated library system.
After a rigorous three-year evaluation process, the University of Central Missouri selected the Alma platform and Primo solution to meet the information needs of students and faculty, who are increasingly accessing information electronically for teaching, learning, and research. The university required a library system that is easy to use, simple to maintain, flexible, and customizable. Also of importance to UCM was system architecture that was built from the outset to handle electronic formats and that is future proof, enabling the library to add new applications as technology changes.
This cost-effective, flexible solution will be able to handle changes in information access and technologies well into the future.
“We are looking forward to replacing archaic, duplicative ways of managing information with the streamlined Alma and Primo workflows. The new system will reduce the time and effort invested by faculty librarians, giving them an opportunity to concentrate on more important activities,” said University Librarian Dr. Gail M. Staines. “This cost-effective, flexible solution will be able to handle changes in information access and technologies well into the future. Alma and Primo checked all our boxes! We are excited to offer our students and faculty a more robust discovery tool to enable them to connect to the information they need.”
Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, commented, “Ex Libris is delighted that the University of Central Missouri will be joining the growing Alma and Primo communities. We are confident that with the Alma platform and Primo solution, UCM will be able to optimize the management, sharing, and discovery of its library resources.”
