The Alma platform will help the university meet its strategic goals of managing collections more effectively and ensuring operational efficiency
London, UK—September 6, 2018. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of Leeds, a leading research and teaching university in the United Kingdom, has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution to improve efficiency, streamline workflows, and support decision-making. Alma and Primo will replace the Innovative Sierra software.
The University Library decided that the time had come to move to a cloud-based SaaS architecture and reduce costs. As part of this process, the university carried out a competitive evaluation of library management systems and their functionality and selected the Ex Libris Alma and Primo solutions.
Alma and Primo both offer excellent reporting functionality that directly addresses our strategic objective of managing collections more efficiently.
Librarian and Keeper of the Brotherton Collection Stella Butler said, “We had the perfect opportunity to test the market as well as the enthusiasm of the staff for a fresh approach and a new solution. Leeds University Library has a proven track record of implementing systems that support and streamline our processes. Alma and Primo both offer excellent reporting functionality that directly addresses our strategic objective of managing collections more efficiently and will improve our decision-making. Furthermore, a more robust relationship between the library management system and resource discovery layer will contribute to operational efficiency by improving the handling of acquisitions and reducing manual processes and workarounds.”
Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, said, “We are delighted to welcome another member of the White Rose University Consortium and the Russell Group to the global family of Alma and Primo users. By minimizing processing time and improving the decision-making capabilities of library managers, Alma is perfectly tailored to the needs of higher-education libraries.”
