Integrated, simplified management of electronic and print resources with easier access to analytics will help deliver the library’s strategy
Hamburg, Germany—March 2, 2016. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University Library of Mannheim has gone live with the Alma® cloud-based resource management solution. The library chose to add Alma to its existing Primo® implementation to make resource management and analysis easier and faster.
Mr Christian Benz, director of the library, explained: ”My strategy for the library required the adoption of streamlined and modern systems that would allow us to manage and present our resources in the most effective way. Our previous system had served us well but there were three areas that I was keen to improve.”
Mr Benz continued: ”I wanted the library to employ an integrated workflow for print and electronic material, to have access to improved statistical analysis, and to offer comprehensive access to our licensed electronic resources. With Alma and our current Primo discovery solution working together we will be able to deliver our services more smoothly to our patrons. This will reduce duplication, simplify data management, and enable staff to carry out detailed analysis of resource use without needing expert-level SQL knowledge.”
”The implementation process has been very smooth,” Mr. Benz concluded. ”Alma is a well-designed, flexible and feature-rich product designed by the leading company in its field, which has a global network of customers on which to draw for their product design requirements. It’s implemented and supported by a very skilled team.”
Ofer Mosseri, general manager and vice president of Ex Libris Europe said ”Our professional services team collaborated closely with the team at Mannheim to ensure a smooth implementation and I am delighted to welcome Mannheim as the latest German member of the global community of live Alma users.”
