The University of Nottingham has chosen the Ex Libris™ Verde® e-resource management (ERM) solution to improve the way it manages its electronic library collections.
Developed by Ex Libris, Verde will help to improve internal workflows within the Universitys library services which will, ultimately, benefit end-users. For example, end-user interfaces such as SFX®, MetaLib® and other library Web services will be able to pull license terms and conditions from the Verde data bases, so that users will be able to see what they can and cant do with some resources.
Stephen Pinfield, Deputy Chief Information Officer and Director of Research and Learning Resources at the University of Nottingham, said that Verde was chosen because it benefited staff and end users.
By improving the way we collect management data, we will be able to provide a truly evidence-based e-library service to our end users. Also, because we will be able to track subscriptions, payments, licenses and trials through one system, our staff can ensure that the service for users is uninterrupted, he said.
Julie Booth, Managing Director of Ex Libris (UK) Ltd, explained: We are pleased that the University of Nottingham has joined the Universities of Cranfield, Nottingham Trent and Liverpool John Moores in selecting Verde to manage their e-collections. We strongly believe that the Verde ERM system will greatly benefit staff and end users at Nottinghams international campuses. We look forward to an ongoing research and development partnership with Nottingham in which we will work together on the integration and testing of results from the SUSHI initiative for usage data harvesting and developing standards for the electronic expression of license terms.
