The Leganto course resource list solution will enable the university to coordinate reserve activity in multiple locations, thus strengthening support for teaching and learning
Jerusalem, Israel—July 13, 2021. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the University of Pennsylvania Libraries (Penn Libraries) has signed an agreement to implement the Ex Libris Leganto® course resource list solution. Penn’s library system is the 250th institution to select the Leganto solution, which puts libraries at the forefront of teaching and learning. The Penn Libraries anticipates that the Leganto tool will provide easy access to library materials for students who are attending classes in person or online.
The Leganto solution will be integrated with the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and the Ex Libris Summon® discovery and delivery solution, both of which the university has been using for a number of years. In addition, the Leganto tool will interoperate with the Blacklight discovery system, through which the Penn Libraries exposes its vast local collections. The integration of course resource lists and library materials at the point of discovery, along with a straightforward user interface, will help faculty members in their search for, and selection of, course materials and will thus lead to a better use of the resources in the library holdings.
The Leganto solution gives us an opportunity to expand outreach to faculty members who have not previously engaged with the library.
Through the Leganto implementation, the Penn Libraries expects to improve coordination between the various locations of reserves on campus. The Leganto tool will be instrumental in simplifying the management of the Libraries’ widely used print resources and streaming video resources, which have become an increasingly important part of course reserves. Leganto workflows can help librarians manage licenses for video materials and ensure continuity of access to the videos.
