We’re excited to announce a major enhancement coming soon to Alma Specto: the Exhibition Platform — a major step forward in how institutions present and share curated collections. This marks the first release in a broader initiative to support exhibition storytelling, beginning with a powerful timeline template.
A new way to showcase collections
The Exhibition Platform introduces a timeline template that allows users to create compelling visual narratives from their Alma collections. You’ll now be able to effortlessly curate exhibition content by selecting titles, images, videos, and diverse visual materials—such as historical documents and letters—directly from Alma. Simply select the materials you want to highlight, and Alma Specto will do the rest. With just one click it will generate a stunning, Wix-powered, timeline-style exhibition, complete with titles, metadata, and visuals. Everything will be seamlessly formatted and transferred for a web-ready experience.
Turn collections into compelling public experiences
With the new Exhibition Platform, you’ll be able to:
- Build a public website in minutes using items already managed in Alma
- Save time and resources with automated metadata and media integration
- Easily expose your digital collections to global audiences
- Accelerate time-to-launch for exhibitions, events, and digital outreach initiatives
Whether you’re highlighting rare manuscripts, community history, or cultural archives, Alma Specto will help you deliver a visually rich, narrative-driven experience with minimal effort.
Designed for storytelling: choose your template
The Exhibition Platform offers flexible layouts to match the story you want to tell. Upcoming options will include:
- Timeline view – perfect for showcasing historical progression or event milestones
- Gallery layout – ideal for image-rich collections or visual storytelling
- Map-based displays – to bring geographic context to your materials
Built with global collaboration
We’ve already begun testing the platform with a group of nine development partners around the world. Their real-world use cases are actively shaping the tool’s design and functionality—ensuring it’s flexible, inclusive, and aligned with the needs of cultural institutions of all sizes.
This collaborative input is guiding the roadmap as we expand beyond the timeline template to support more immersive and diverse exhibition formats.
Be among the first to explore it
The Alma Specto Early Adopter Program is now open. If you’d like to be among the first to try out the new Exhibition experience, we’d love to hear from you. Join the Early Adopter Program.
General availability is planned for late 2025. This is just the beginning of what’s to come. The Exhibition Platform represents a significant evolution in how Alma Specto supports storytelling, public engagement, and digital curation.
Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to launch.
