Ex Libris is excited to announce that the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) went live with the Alma Starter e-resource management solution on March 22, 2024. The selection and adoption of Alma Starter is aligned with the CEIBS Smart Campus project, which aims to empower the school using modern technology and is designed to streamline processes used by those in the school’s community.

 

On April 16, 2024, Mr. Osher Gilinsky, Vice President of Asia Pacific and Mr. Steven Wang, Vice President, Academia and Government, Greater China of Clarivate, paid a special visit to CEIBS and participated in the opening ceremony of the first Alma Starter user in the Asia Pacific region. Mr. Lu Ming, the leader of CEIBS Information and Library Center, and Ms. Hu Min, the deputy director of the library, introduced the smart campus construction of CEIBS and the results of the Alma Starter project respectively, while Mr. Osher Gilinsky also highlighted the AI development strategy and roadmap of Clarivate.

 

Ms. Hu Min, deputy library director at CEIBS, explained, “Alma Starter, through its refined metadata management and extensive global knowledge base of electronic resources, provides libraries with an efficient and precise platform for resource management. It enables patrons to discover the library’s comprehensive collection of e-resources and librarians to intelligently analyze and interpret data from various resources, significantly enhancing the convenience and experience of searching for and utilizing library collections.”

 

Alma Starter enables CEIBS to efficiently and effectively manage the complete lifecycle of electronic resources. Central to managing e-resources with Alma is a rich e-resource knowledge base, which makes cataloging, updating, and management of electronic collections easier than before. In addition, the service comes with e-resource license, provider, and user management capabilities to simplify library staff responsibilities. It further provides intelligent recommendation service based on big data, along enables more informed decision-making through intelligent analytics. Alma Starter leverages the same open architecture and rich API interfaces of Alma library service platform, used by over 2,500 libraries worldwide.
