OhioLINK, Ohio’s academic library consortium, has successfully transitioned to the Ex Libris Alma and Primo library services platform, marking a significant milestone in a major migration project for Clarivate.

Building on a 30-plus-year legacy of collaboration and innovation, the move to Alma and Primo, along with the adoption of Rapido as a next-generation resource sharing solution, marks a critical step in modernizing library services across the state, positioning OhioLINK’s 115 member libraries to better serve more than 850,000 students, faculty, and state employees.

The OhioLINK migration stands out not just for its scale, but also for the exceptional engagement from its member institutions. More than 500 library staff members contributed to advisory and working groups, ensuring the migration stayed on track.

Keeping such a complex project on time and on budget really was a remarkable collective achievement,” said Amy Pawlowski, executive director of OhioLINK. “Librarians are service-minded collaborators, knowing their contributions would benefit not just their own library’s students and faculty but also their OhioLINK colleagues across the state – and ultimately Ohio’s higher education faculty and students who use the system. We can’t thank our members enough.”

Yariv Kursh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Ex Libris, from Clarivate, commented:

Working with OhioLINK on this migration has been a rewarding collaboration. These kinds of large-scale, consortial projects are exactly where we see libraries evolving to stay ahead of user expectations. We’re proud to support OhioLINK as they continue to expand access and services across the state, and we look forward to what we’ll accomplish together next.

OhioLINK’s next steps include the rollout of Alma Digital, Leganto, Rapido, and the Ex Libris Library Mobile app. In addition, Leganto will seamlessly integrate library services and collections into teaching and learning environments by embedding directly within learning management systems, further advancing affordable learning initiatives. These enhancements will further strengthen services across the consortium and benefit Ohio higher education students, faculty, and state employees. In collaboration with SearchOhio, OhioLINK is also working with Ex Libris to unify resource sharing across the state through the development of a next-generation Rapido platform. This collaborative work will continue into 2026 and beyond, ensuring library services remain modern, connected, and responsive to the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff across Ohio.
