We’ve recently published the first blog in our Responsible AI for Digital Collections series, exploring how AI can help libraries and archives make more of their digital collections discoverable.
Digitization has made millions of photographs, manuscripts, newspapers, audiovisual recordings, and archival documents available online, but making content available doesn’t necessarily make it easy to find.
In this blog, we look at how AI-assisted entity extraction can identify people, places, organizations, and other meaningful information hidden within digital content. These AI-generated suggestions can then be reviewed and refined by librarians and archivists, helping enrich metadata while keeping staff at the center of the process.
The result is richer discovery: researchers can uncover connections across collections that may not have been visible through traditional metadata and keyword searches alone.
Read the blog to learn how responsible AI can help reveal hidden connections and unlock more of the research potential within digital collections.
