A recent internal analysis of the 2025 National Student Survey (NSS) reveals a compelling link between the use of Leganto—a course resource list management system—and significantly higher student satisfaction with library resources.

What We Found

The NSS asks final-year undergraduates across the UK to rate their experience, including how well library resources supported their learning (Question 20). When we compared institutions using Leganto with those that don’t, the results were striking:

Leganto institutions averaged a 91.08% satisfaction score
Non-Leganto institutions averaged 83.79%
That’s a 7.29 percentage point advantage—a statistically significant and meaningful difference

This isn’t just a number. It reflects real improvements in how students access, use, and benefit from the resources they need to succeed.

Why It Matters

A 7%+ boost in satisfaction isn’t just a win for libraries—it’s a signal that students are experiencing fewer barriers, more relevant materials, and better integration between their courses and the library.

Leganto’s ability to connect reading lists directly to learning platforms, streamline academic workflows, and provide real-time access to licensed and open content is clearly resonating with students.

Correlation isn’t causation. While Leganto is associated with higher satisfaction, many factors influence how students perceive their learning environment. But the strength and consistency of the data—especially when compared to other NSS themes—suggests Leganto plays a meaningful role.
