The two solutions’ integrated functionality delivers enhanced efficiency and better visibility of scholarly resources
Chicago, IL—January 23, 2013. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, announced today that Brandeis University has selected the Primo® discovery and delivery solution and the Alma library management service. Having used the Ex Libris Aleph integrated library service for many years, the University decided to migrate its library systems to the Ex Libris cloud environment and take advantage of the two solutions’ tight integration and unified framework for the management and discovery of all resource types and collections.
John Unsworth, chief information officer at Brandeis, commented: ”We are eager to take advantage of the comprehensive platform offered by Ex Libris Primo and Alma. On the discovery side, ensuring that our resources are presented in a neutral fashion, regardless of publisher, is critical—and this neutrality is a defining principle of the Primo Central Index. For our library operations, we were seeking a solution that would increase automation and accuracy, particularly for cataloging. We are also attracted by the fact that a number of our partners in the Boston Library Consortium are moving to Alma and Primo. We think that Alma, in particular, is going to be a good platform for consortial collaboration and will ultimately save us money and improve the quality of service we can provide.”
”The addition of Brandeis to the flourishing North American Alma community is an exciting development for Ex Libris,” remarked Mark Triest, president of Ex Libris North America. ”Academic and research libraries are increasingly moving all their Ex Libris solutions to the Ex Libris cloud. This trend demonstrates libraries’ desire to participate in a collaborative, networked space that also delivers tangible benefits, such as lower costs, higher productivity, and an enhanced discovery experience.”
