Today, Ex Libris announced that the California Digital Library (CDL), a longstanding Ex Libris customer, has purchased Verde, the companys solution for electronic resource management. This implementation of Verde adds to CDLs suite of existing Ex Libris products that already include the ALEPH Union Catalog, SFX®, and MetaLib®. The California Digital Library is part of the University of California (UC) system; in conjunction with the ten individual UC institutions, it represents one of the largest academic library systems in the world. CDLs focus is exclusively on digital and electronic collections. Its mission is to build, share, and preserve digital information through a host of projects and programs. By using Verde, the CDL electronic library infrastructure will deliver cross-campus electronic resource management (search, retrieve, edit, and apply) for all ten campuses, plus a central management instance. This integrated ERM solution will enable all of the library ERM administrators, local or central, to share appropriate e-resource management information.
Ex Libris Vice-President of Sales, Susan Pastore, said, We are delighted with CDLs selection of Verde. There has been a flood of ERM systems released this past year and CDLs decision is further proof that Verdes unique architecture and consortium functionality is the only real solution when it comes to managing electronic resources for consortia. In addition, the singular aspects of CDLs electronic requirements truly raised the bar for Ex Libris and demonstrate that Verde is without peer in the marketplace.
CDLs purchase brings Ex Libris sales of Verde to more than 40 sites in the US alone.
