Arkansas Tech University is the third institution in the state to join the Alma community in the last twelve months
Chicago, IL—March 25, 2015. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that the Ross Pendergraft Library of the Arkansas Tech University has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library management solution as well as the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. Following an extensive and formal market evaluation, and continuing the trend of current Ex Libris Voyager® customers upgrading to Alma, the library is aiming to streamline operations by providing a cloud-based, open, and unified platform for all collections, which integrates smoothly with the university’s two satellite campuses.
The adoption of Ex Libris Primo will significantly enhance the discovery experience for students and faculty, who will be able to move easily between search activities and library services such as accounts and hold requests. Library staff members are also looking forward to enabling users to personalize the ranking of Primo search results according to the users’ discipline and level of scholarly expertise.
”Having run Voyager successfully for many years, we were keen to refresh the library’s technology backbone and to analyze the current market offering”, commented Brent Etzel, the library director. ”And following a formal process, we decided to continue the partnership with Ex Libris. We believe that Ex Libris solutions are best able to meet, and possibly exceed, the requirements of our students, faculty, and staff in today’s changing environment—especially in light of the university’s upcoming first doctoral cohorts in this coming summer.”
Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, remarked: ”We are delighted to welcome the Arkansas Tech University library to the rapidly growing Alma and Primo communities. Having seen many successful Alma implementations across North America, I am looking forward to watching Arkansas Tech experience similar benefits, for both librarians and users. Ex Libris is pleased to continue its close collaboration with the university as Alma becomes a pivotal element in the community’s academic pursuits.”
