The Primo Central Index will now cover metadata from the research data published by ANDS Jerusalem, Israel—September 12, 2012. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library technology solutions, is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with the Australian National Data Service (ANDS) to syndicate the metadata of the research data that ANDS stores and makes accessible to researchers. This agreement is part of the Ex Libris initiative to expand the indexing of research data in Primo Central. ANDS is transforming Australia’s research data environment by managing and connecting data, enabling the discovery of this data, and supporting its reuse. The organization aims to promote richer, more accountable research; a more efficient use of research data; and improved provision of data to support policy development. Director of Services Dr. Adrian Burton explained: ”ANDS strives to make Australian research data more visible, and we actively syndicate information on Australia’s research data assets. Thanks to our new partnership with Ex Libris, any data sets registered with ANDS will also be visible to researchers who use the Primo Central Index for resource discovery. Working with Ex Libris helps more scholars use Australian research data and creates international collaboration opportunities for Australian research organizations.” ”Providing scholarly access to research data and materials from institutional repositories is a high priority for Ex Libris,” commented David Beychok, vice president of discovery and delivery solutions at Ex Libris. ”The process of scholarly communication in today’s academic landscape is continually changing, offering new opportunities and challenges that we are keen to take advantage of. Services such as ANDS are hugely important in enabling scholars to build on existing research rather than recreating it and in fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration. We are committed to increasing the volume of research data that is indexed in Primo Central for the benefit of our users worldwide.” About the Australian National Data Service The Australian National Data Service (ANDS) is building the Australian Research Data Commons: a cohesive collection of research resources from all research institutions, to make better use of Australia’s research data outputs. Research Data Australia, ANDS’ flagship service, provides a comprehensive window into the Australian Research Data Commons. It is an Internet-based discovery service designed to provide rich connections between data, projects, researchers, and institutions and promote visibility of Australian research data collections in search engines. Monash University leads the ANDS partnership with the Australian National University (ANU) and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO).
