ALEPH 500 Reporting Center version 2.0 provides library activity statistics essential for making data-driven decisions
Jerusalem, Israel—May 17, 2007. Ex Libris Group is pleased to announce the general availability of version 2.0 of the ALEPH® 500 Reporting Center (ARC). Building on industry-leading business intelligence technology, ARC 2.0 supports library planning processes by making data about collections, services, and workflows readily available to library personnel.
ARC delivers real-time reports and statistics on library activity by extracting data from the ALEPH integrated library system, building logical relationships between data elements, and loading this information into a data warehouse. The speed and efficiency of this behind-the-scenes process has been greatly improved in version 2.0, significantly reducing ARCs total cost of ownership. Among the new features in this version is the generation of follow-up reports that enable users to identify and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the data warehousing process.
Over 100 new predefined reports—designed according to customer specifications— use the ALEPH information stored in the data warehouse to provide ARC users with the flexibility to generate statistics based on different aspects of library activity. Staff can also choose to create customized reports for specific institutional business purposes. These easy-to-create, custom reports do not require any background in SQL programming.
Ex Libris Group is proud to present ARC 2.0 in action, commented Kathryn Harnish, director of ILS products at Ex Libris. Based on a collaborative effort with our customers, this product version has been received most enthusiastically. Library personnel working with ARC have been impressed with the relevance of the new predefined reports, the improved performance of the data-extraction process, and enhancements delivered by the underlying Cognos 8 software.
