Today Ex Libris announced that three Mississippi universities have chosen MetaLib® for their federated search solution. Included in the consortium are Mississippi State University, Mississippi University for Women, and Delta State University.
We looked at several solutions for our metasearch needs and MetaLib was the only product that provided the advanced functionality we required for federated searching, said Stephen Cunetto, Administrator of Systems for Mississippi State University Libraries. Also key was that Ex Libris offered a proven vendor-hosted solution that was easy to use and based on industry standards.
Susan Pastore, Vice President of Sales at Ex Libris (USA), said, Mississippi State Universitys decision to choose Ex Libris to locally host MetaLib for their metasearching needs is a further testament to our ability to continually evolve our products without sacrificing quality in the process. The addition of Delta State, Mississippi State, and Mississippi University for Women to our growing base ASP customers also speaks to the increasing demand in library management for a hosting provider that offers stable connectivity, as well as one that is not proprietary.

About Mississippi University for Women:
Mississippi University for Women was chartered in 1884, it made educational history as the first state-supported college for women in America. Originally known as The Industrial Institute and College (II&C), this institution was created by the Mississippi Legislature to provide a unique hybrid: a high quality collegiate education for women coupled with practical vocation training. In 1920, the Industrial Institute and College became Mississippi State College for Women. This name change clearly reflected the institution’s merging of the professional training with four year collegiate degrees. By 1974, as all eight universities in Mississippi began adding and strengthening graduate programs, MSCW became Mississippi University for Women. But her alumni and friends affectionately call her The W. Admitting men since 1982, MUW still provides a high quality liberal arts education with a distinct emphasis on professional development and leadership opportunities for women. A Carnegie Master’s II public institution, Mississippi University for Women provides high-quality undergraduate and graduate education for women and men in a variety of liberal arts and professional programs, while maintaining its historic commitment to academic and leadership development for women.
