The campusM app will provide mobile information and communication services to students on the go
Chicago, Illinois—February 10, 2018. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that Florida’s Miami Dade College (MDC) has chosen the Ex Libris campusM™ mobile solution to help consolidate information from the college’s learning management system (LMS), student information system (SIS), and other campus services and display that information on students’ mobile devices.
Among the key factors in MDC’s choice of the campusM app was its extensive personalization, which increases the relevance of campus information for the diverse user community; the consolidation of campus systems under one mobile umbrella; and the availability of an App Extension Kit (a software development kit), which will enable additional data sources to be integrated into the app in the future.
Our goal and primary success factor is to enable the campusM mobile application to become an effective information and transactional hub for all of our 160,000 students.
Through the campusM solution, members of the MDC community will be able to access numerous general and personalized services, including class schedules, grades, courses, advisor services, financial aid status, events, personal data, library services, and more. The native apps and responsive web portal will also act as key entry points to additional services, such as the Blackboard® platform, MDC News, campus help topics, and FAQs.
Leveraging the app’s capacity to engage multiple stakeholders, such as students, instructors, staff, alumni, and prospects, as well as to host dedicated interfaces, MDC will be able to effortlessly deploy additional profiles for special events, such as Visit Days, Student Days, and Welcome Week.
“Our goal and primary success factor is to enable the campusM mobile application to become an effective information and transactional hub for all of our 160,000 students,” said Frederik Creugers, Associate Vice Provost of Enterprise Business Solutions at MDC. “We decided early on that we expected the mobile app project to be multiphased, where we would roll out new and improved functionality on a continual basis. As such, we determined that we needed a mobile platform that could address both our defined and—importantly—yet-to-be-defined future requirements.”
Eric Hines, President of Ex Libris North America, commented, “We warmly welcome Miami Dade College to the campusM user community. The campusM app’s true native ability to integrate various systems, features, and capabilities into a single channel will be of great benefit to the community served by the numerous campuses of this large college.”
