Jerusalem, Israel—September 7, 2006. Ex Libris™ is pleased to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the National Digital Science Library (NDSL) of Korea for the implementation of SFX®, the award-winning link resolver from Ex Libris. NDSL will host SFX and will provide SFX services to a large number of Korean institutions.
Mr. Ho Nam Choi, director of the National Digital Science Library, stated, NDSL has been searching for the best solution to seamlessly link various widely dispersed electronic resources. After a rigorous evaluation process, the NDSL team was convinced that SFX was what we were looking for. We are naming the project SFX@NDSL and plan to offer SFX hosting, implementation, and support services. Through the SFX@NDSL project, I am sure that participating institutions will enjoy the benefit of high-quality SFX linking services based on NDSL hardware and manpower.
I am very excited about signing the memorandum for the SFX partnership between Ex Libris and NDSL, noted Jun Pyo Hong, general manager of Ex Libris Korea. Consortium purchasing of software solutions is not common in Korea. I am confident that this partnership will be a case in point of hardware and personnel resource sharing that cuts down the total cost of ownership tremendously. I am certain that the quality of the SFX product and NDSLs customer service will create significant value for Korean libraries.
