Digital preservation experts from around the world discuss emerging trends and challenges in digital preservation
Chicago, IL—June 7, 2016. Users of the Ex Libris Rosetta digital asset management and preservation solution are gathering this week at New York University in New York, NY, for the seventh annual meeting of the Rosetta Advisory Group.
This year, the meeting examines the ways in which Rosetta users are taking management and preservation of their digital content to the next level in view of emerging trends in the digital preservation world and challenges that these users encounter in their day-to-day work. Contributions from Rosetta customers include presentations on the efficient and secure deposit of data objects, preservation and provenance, and opening library collections to the public.
The Rosetta Advisory Group meeting is an opportunity for Rosetta users to share their thoughts on the Rosetta roadmap, to influence future Rosetta development, and to openly discuss their needs and suggestions with senior management at Ex Libris. A highlight of the meeting this year will be a series of short workshops that address specific topics within the area of digital preservation. Experts from a range of institutions will discuss metadata extractors, the TIFF format, data privacy in Rosetta, and more.
”We are looking forward to this year’s Advisory Group meeting as Ex Libris and the Rosetta user community work together to define the Rosetta roadmap for the next year,” added Steve Knight, program director, preservation research and consultancy, National Library of New Zealand and chair of the Rosetta User Group. ”Our requirements continue to evolve, and it is important that Rosetta evolves with them. The Advisory Group meeting is a valuable expression of the close collaboration between Ex Libris and the user community, and we greatly appreciate the ongoing dialogue we enjoy with Ex Libris regarding the future direction of Rosetta.”
Matti Shem Tov, president of Ex Libris, remarked, ”I am delighted to see the ever-expanding Rosetta user group at this year’s advisory group meeting in New York. This is a unique event at which people with extraordinary knowledge gather each year to share their experiences and support one another in their evolving use of Rosetta. We continue to learn a great deal from our user community both throughout the year and during this annual event.”
