SLQ becomes the first state library worldwide to adopt the Ex Libris next-generation library management service
Adelaide, Australia—June 18, 2012. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to welcome the State Library of Queensland to the Australia and New Zealand early-adopter program for the Alma library management service. An institution with a history of leadership in library technology, SLQ was the first Australian library to implement the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution.
”Choosing Alma to manage our diverse, extensive library collections was the logical next step for the library,” commented Janette Wright, CEO and state librarian at the State Library of Queensland. ”Improving efficiency and facilitating cooperation among our staff members will enable us to concentrate more on serving the population of Queensland and providing easier access to our local and online resources. Our collections, users, and mission are different from those of academic libraries; we serve as a legal deposit, and our mandate is to collect original published materials, together with electronic and digital resources, and make them available to the Queensland community. We are pleased to represent Australia’s state libraries and help Ex Libris address their needs with Alma.”
”Ex Libris is honored to welcome the State Library of Queensland to the Australia and New Zealand Alma early-adopter group,” remarked Holley Dumble, Ex Libris director of sales for Australia and New Zealand. ”As the first library in Australia to use Primo, the State Library of Queensland exhibited its enthusiasm for innovation and its commitment to serving the community. We are looking forward to collaborating with the State Library team and demonstrating the contribution that Alma can make to state and national libraries.”
