Institutions around the world choose the Primo discovery and delivery solution as others go live
Ex Libris Group is pleased to announce that the number of institutions choosing the Primo discovery and delivery solution continues to increase rapidly. The British Library and the University of Auckland, New Zealand join the nearly 100 prominent libraries and universities around the globe that are offering patrons the Primo cutting-edge interface to their entire library collection.
A unified solution for the discovery and delivery of all library resources, regardless of format and location, Primo addresses the expectations of today’s library users for quick, easy, and effective searching and retrieval. Primo enables libraries to present their entire collection in an entirely new way, offering patrons a single point of access to a wealth of authoritative information.
The British Library, a long-time Ex Libris customer running the Aleph® integrated library system, the SFX® context-sensitive link server, and the DigiTool® digital asset management system, chose Primo to provide patrons with access to the library catalog through a user-centric interface that adheres to Web 2.0 concepts.
“Primo provides us with a greatly improved catalogue interface and allows us to collaborate more closely with our users,” explained Roger Butcher, Primo project manager at the British Library. “It will also help us increase the exposure of our other collections such as recorded sound and manuscripts.”
“Our Primo application will provide a one-stop shop offering access to all of the Library’s collections” commented Janet Copsey, university librarian at the
“We welcome all of the customers joining the Primo community and are extremely pleased with the rapid pace at which Primo sites continue to go live around the world—the most recent of which is Iowa State University,” noted
