The University will use the groundbreaking solution to revolutionize course material management and delivery for its physical and virtual campuses
Chicago, IL—January 20, 2017. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that Washington State University (WSU) has chosen LegantoSM powered by SIPX, the Ex Libris resource list solution. WSU will use this solution to manage course resource lists and deliver course materials to students at its five campus locations and to its distance learners worldwide, who study through the virtual WSU Global Campus. Integrated with the Ex Libris Alma® library management system and the Primo® discovery solution, the Leganto solution will enable WSU Libraries to easily meet the demand for course materials.
Among the key factors in WSU’s decision was the ability of Leganto powered by SIPX to leverage the WSU Libraries’ collections and to deliver course materials to students affordably. Also, by facilitating instructors’ compilation of course resource lists containing all types of materials, including physical, electronic, and digital materials offered by the libraries or available through the web, Leganto will enhance teaching and learning at WSU.
With Leganto powered by SIPX, WSU will be able to optimize the use of library resources and simplify the process of building and supporting course resource lists, including the automation of copyright clearance. Furthermore, WSU, which is already an Alma and Primo customer, will benefit from seamlessly integrated workflows between course resource lists, library discovery, and library resource management.
”The ultimate goal of any course resource management tool is to provide students with the best materials for their courses at the lowest cost, and to do so in an easy-to-use interface,” said Blake Galbreath, core services librarian at WSU Libraries. ”We believe that Leganto does a great job of accomplishing this goal.”
Alex Merrill, head of systems and technical operations at WSU Libraries, said, ”We are happy with how Ex Libris Alma has improved our library management workflows. Leganto powered by SIPX has the potential to build on these workflows and enhance the library’s role in teaching and learning at our physical campuses as well as at the virtual WSU Global Campus. Through Leganto, it is our hope that our library will strengthen its connection with both faculty and students.”
Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, remarked, ”We are delighted that Washington State University has expressed its confidence in Ex Libris once again by opting to deploy our course resource list solution. WSU has already seen tremendous value from our Alma platform and the Primo discovery service. Now, with Leganto, the school will be able to lower the cost of course materials for students both locally and abroad.”
