As part of its Primo February 2024 Release, Ex Libris, part of Clarivate, has created a Showcase widget enabling institutions to highlight and expose selected content. The new carousel-style Showcase widget can be easily embedded into any website, such as your library or university homepage, enabling libraries to visually promote their content and forge new paths to discovering and accessing resources. Whether promoting unique collections or tailored searches, the showcase enables libraries to visually represent their offerings and increase engagement with patrons, meeting your users where they are.
Powered by a Primo search query determined by the library, the Showcase widget will accurately represent the most current search results and content available to library users. For example, libraries may want to promote monthly awareness themes, and can simply update the behind-the-scenes search query for new, updated titles, without needing to update their customizations. Alternatively, the Showcase can highlight special collections curated by the library to support a larger storytelling initiative, such as sharing the history and background of their library or university.
The showcase feature was originally requested by community members via the Idea Exchange – an Ex Libris site supporting the open discussion of innovative ideas and requests from the community, to be voted upon and considered by Ex Libris for development. We are proud to share that these were highly popular ideas and look forward to this widget being useful to our community.
