Ex Libris, part of Clarivate, is pleased to announce that the Library and Information Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, a prestigious special library based in Budapest, has selected Alma library services platform and Primo discovery solution.

The unified solution will enable the library to consolidate their print, electronic and digitized collections, making them all easily discoverable through a single interface. With its automated workflows and customization options, Alma streamlines library processes. As a cloud-based service, it reduces local infrastructure expenditures, provides timely updates and reduces maintenance efforts. Alma Analytics offers insights into the use of library collections, thus supporting data-driven decisions that help manage costs. Using Primo, patrons can easily access all resources, anytime and from any device.

The Library and Information Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences is a key center of Hungary’s national research support system. The Library was founded in 1826, just 6 months after the Hungarian Academy of Sciences which celebrates its 200th anniversary this year.  As a national public collection, it maintains printed, manuscript, archival and other information media, preserving the values of national and international cultural heritage. At the same time it performs the task of disseminating scientific knowledge and promoting scientific work through open science services such as its repository, REAL. In addition to its traditional function as a public collection, it has two national public functions: the Hungarian Science Bibliography and the Electronic Information Service National Programme.

“It is a milestone for us, as the Library has used the same integrated library system (Aleph) since 1990. It’s not just one small step for us, it is one giant leap for the Hungarian library network. High quality research and research support requires the best library solution available nowadays.” commented Prof. István Monok, Director General of the Library. He further added that the Library started preparations years ago by switching to MARC21 standard.

Asaf Kline, Vice President, Product Management at Ex Libris, part of Clarivate said: “Today marks a strengthening of our long-time partnership with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as we support the Academy’s Library and Information Centre to build a modern, forward-thinking, unified library platform. The professionalism and visionary leadership of the library’s team will help elevate the library experience for its patrons and users, enhancing learning and research outcomes.”
