In today’s customer spotlight, Crystal Buss, Head of Access Services at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, talks about consortial collaboration, the library’s excitement with the new Alma user interface, expected efficiency gains from the new UI, and the experience of working with Ex Libris.
The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh uses a “One, System, One Library” model. They use the Alma Network Zone not only for shared cataloging, but also resource sharing, allowing the transfer of archive materials from special collections at the different member libraries. This, together with the Alma cloud environment, has led to greater efficiency and better library collaboration. UW Oshkosh also appreciates Alma’s monthly updates, which allow constant improvement of consortial features.
The library staff at UW Oshkosh will benefit in several ways from the new Alma user interface. Customized right-click options will both speed up repetitive work and reduce repetitive motions for librarians. Student workers will be able to navigate Alma more easily by saving the tasks they use more often to their “Favorites.”
Crystal particularly enjoyed the new UI workshop at Ex Libris headquarters, which included a range of Alma users. As she puts it, “Our opinions matter.”
