In today’s digital landscape, gaining a clear understanding of user behavior is essential for driving engagement and retaining users. Clarivate™ is excited to spotlight the Ex Libris™ Primo™ integration with Mixpanel, offering an innovative new platform for user engagement analytics.

This partnership provides academic libraries with deeper insights into how students and patrons are using collections – and subsequently applying those insights to make data-informed decisions on collection development and ways to improve engagement.

The value of user engagement analytics

Scholarly success depends on intuitive discovery of library collections. Our Ex Libris Primo solution enables students and patrons to discover library collections from trusted scholarly materials and resources. Our goal is to advance academic achievement, helping students and researchers access valuable insights and information across the library’s collections and in doing so bolster engagement with library resources, elevating the library’s impact and contribution at an institutional level.

This partnership with Mixpanel, a top-tier web and mobile analytics platform designed to track engagement with digital products, is part of our commitment to continuously invest in our Next Discovery Experience. By integrating Mixpanel with Primo, libraries will have access to robust user engagement analytics. These analytics include how students and researchers are using library collections and can support data driven decision-making for collection development and management, ensuring that libraries are always providing resources that are in-demand and easily discoverable to users.

How does it work?

Mixpanel is a web and mobile analytics platform that helps institutions track and analyze user interactions with their digital products. Ex Libris will use Mixpanel to receive anonymous real-time data about user behavior in Primo discovery, harnessing Mixpanel’s capabilities to include a better understanding of the user journey, identifying pain points, drop-off points, locating the access points to Primo and more. These analytics uncover trends and patterns in how library collections are being used and reveal opportunities to make strategic improvements that enhance engagement.
