Four prestigious institutions will work with us to localize our next-generation library management service for our Italian customers.

The University of Rome Tor Vergata, the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, the University of Udine and the University of Camerino have signed agreements to collaborate with to create Italy’s first installations of Alma. A key focus for the program will be the implementation of the UNIMARC standard.

In this endeavor Italian universities are joining their counterparts in technically advanced countries such as United States, England, Germany, Norway and Australia. We are very excited to begin collaborating with the institutions, to define the capabilities that Alma needs to meet the specific needs of Italian libraries. These institutions—the first to use Alma with UNIMARC—join a rapidly growing Alma community, which now numbers over 330 institutions.”

Designed as a regional early adopter program, the program will facilitate collaboration between Ex Libris and the program members during their adoption of the company’s next-generation library services. Today Ex Libris reveals the four institutions that it will collaborate with to pave the way for Alma in Italy, creating the first installations of this next generation solution.
