A message from Ofer Mosseri, Corporate VP and General Manager, EMEA

As you have probably heard, IGeLU (the International Group of Ex Libris Users) has decided to hold the IGeLU 2020 event as a Digital Conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While not easy, this is the right decision. I want to thank the IGeLU steering committee and the WHELF (Wales Higher Education Libraries Forum) for the work that they have done on the conference planning, as well as all those who planned to present and attend the Cardiff 2020 conference.

We will be working closely with the IGeLU team to support the digital conference with quality content and comprehensive updates, as in all IGeLU conferences, and we are sure this will be an excellent event. We have also announced the Ex Libris Knowledge Days 2020 in its digital version – a series of free-of-charge webinars. We hope to see you all online.

I would like to use this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work that our global community of customers has undertaken to shift to remote working quickly and smoothly, continuing to provide essential library services in support of teaching, learning and research.  We are committed and confident in our ability to support you while we all embrace new ways to work together.

You will also most likely have heard of our initiatives during this unprecedented time, all of which are shared on this page. These initiatives serve one purpose: to enable the continued growth of our user community and guarantee that institutions across the globe have the right tools in place to continue their business operations and continuity plans.

We’re also doing our part by providing the same tools to our employees so that they have the environment they need to continue to deliver the highest levels of service and availability to our customers in a safe way. We are also asking our teams to work with customers through digital channels as much as possible. We have postponed some of our in-person events while turning others into virtual events, through webinars and recorded sessions that you can watch at your own convenience. You can find these on our website.

On a personal level, I am enjoying this extra time with my family and investing time in getting to know the Ex Libris EMEA team members better.  Beyond work activities, our team is hosting virtual meetings, occasional happy hours, and introducing their pets and family members to each other.

IGeLU 2021 plans remain unchanged. We hope to see you online in September and in person in 2021. Updates about the IGeLU event can be found on the IGeLU website . If you are not a member, you can learn more about the many benefits of joining IGeLU here.

Stay safe and thank you for being part of the Ex Libris community.
