BSZ and Ex Libris to partner in developing next generation library services.

Ex Libris is pleased to welcome The Library Service Center for Baden-Württemberg (BSZ) (Bibliotheksservice-Zentrum Baden-Württemberg) to the Ex Libris Alma Early Adopter Program for libraries in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The BSZ will actively support the launch of the next-generation library system of the members of the Southwest German Library Network (SWB) who have already chosen Alma.

Together with Ex Libris, the BSZ will develop central services based on the Alma Network Zone for consortium members which mean that the five member libraries of the SWB network will benefit from this collaboration. Additionally, this agreement provides BSZ with an excellent strategic opportunity to develop innovative services for members of the SWB consortia, enabling them to become one of the leading providers of next-generation library services in the German market.

I spoke with Dr. Ralf Goebel, director of the Library Service Center for Baden-Wuerttemberg (BSZ) who stressed the importance of excellent customer satisfaction for our mutual customer base. Furthermore, Mr. Goebel said that “to support our customers the BSZ will develop capabilities and deeper knowledge of Alma, build up expertise in the next-generation consortia functionality and work with member libraries and Ex Libris to develop new consortial services that we can offer.“

The BSZ is an IT-service provider for academic and public libraries, archives, and museums in the South-West of Germany. It offers databases, portals, support, hosting, and other services to its members.
