Under the NALIS umbrella, three leading universities in Bulgaria will implement Rosetta to power long term digital preservation
Hamburg, Germany—September 10, 2013. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation and preservation solutions, is pleased to announce that the National Academic Library and Information System (NALIS) in Bulgaria has adopted the Rosetta digital preservation solution.
The NALIS foundation is comprised of the three most prestigious academic institutions in the country: the Bulgarian Academy of Science, the Sofia University, and the American University in Bulgaria, and is supported by the America for Bulgaria Foundation. The consortium currently runs the Ex Libris Aleph® integrated library system, the Primo® discovery solution, and the SFX® link resolver.
Installed in libraries and archives worldwide, Rosetta encompasses the entire digital preservation workflow, from acquisition to discovery. Rosetta enables academic institutions, libraries, archives, and other memory institutions to manage, preserve, and provide access in perpetuity to institutional documents, research output in digital formats, digital images, websites, and other digitally born and digitized materials.
”After evaluating several commercial digital preservation systems, we found that only Rosetta has the unique capabilities that our member institutions require,” commented Dincho Krastev, executive director of NALIS. ”We consider Ex Libris to be a global leader in providing automation solutions to research libraries, and we valued their commitment and energy in our collaborations to implement Primo and Aleph. The addition of Rosetta will support our strategic goal to preserve the digital assets and heritage of Bulgaria for the benefit of future generations.”
”We are proud to welcome NALIS to the international Rosetta community, which comprises over 20 academic, research, and national libraries; museums; and archives,” remarked Ullrich Jüngling, VP Sales Central- East & Southeast Europe. ”Over the last several years NALIS has become a close strategic partner of Ex Libris and we are impressed by their dedicated efforts to optimize their shared library service portfolio for their member institutions. Their decision to adopt Rosetta will strengthen our partnership by extending our collaboration into the field of long term preservation.”
