Esploro will help the university showcase faculty research and enable the research office and library to support researchers of all disciplines
Chicago, Illinois—January 25, 2020. Ex Libris, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the California State University, Sacramento, has chosen the Ex Libris Esploro™ research information management solution to capture, manage, and highlight the university’s research activity and to further optimize research workflows.
Esploro will constitute the university’s unified system for managing all research activity and data across multiple academic disciplines, and will provide the research office with a high-level view of research activity performance and metrics. The Esploro solution will advance scholarship and make the university’s collective expertise more visible to local, regional, and global academic communities.
The University is a long-time user of the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Primo® library discovery solution, which, like the Esploro solution, are built on the Ex Libris higher-ed cloud platform.
Esploro will provide the power to launch us beyond our campus borders and enable us to highlight our expanding technologies, knowledge, and expertise and share them with communities locally, regionally, and across the nation.
The extent and quality of Sacramento State’s research and creative activities were driving forces behind the decision to adopt the Ex Libris Esploro solution. Through automated workflows, Esploro will eliminate some of the administrative and compliance hurdles of scholarly communication and will enable faculty members to focus on their research activities.
The University Library at Sacramento State will also use the Esploro solution to manage and enrich metadata and maintain a current list of experts. This information will showcase faculty research and success, as well as demonstrating the university’s openness to partnerships of all kinds.
“The innovative research and scholarship at Sacramento State is incredibly rich and cutting-edge,” commented Yvonne Harris, associate vice president for the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development at Sacramento State. “We are pushing boundaries and creating new knowledge that is impactful and transformative for both the university and the community. Esploro will provide the power to launch us beyond our campus borders and enable us to highlight our expanding technologies, knowledge, and expertise and share them with communities locally, regionally, and across the nation. It goes without saying that this software has given us a new tool for our toolkit, which will connect people with creative ideas for solving real-world problems and addressing critical needs.”
Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, added, “We are pleased to help Sacramento State streamline the collection and management of its scholarly and creative activity and improve the discoverability of such activity by the world outside, bringing well-earned recognition to the university’s researchers.”
