The Ex Libris solutions will facilitate collaboration between consortium members, improve efficiency, and strengthen the relationship between libraries and users
Barcelona, Spain—September 28, 2017. Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the Consorcio Madroño (the Madroño consortium) has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and services for the consortium’s members. Alma will replace the SirsiDynix Symphony™ integrated library system.
The six member universities of the Madroño Consortium, all leading institutions in Madrid, had previously used individual, local, on-premises (non-cloud) deployments of the same integrated library system (ILS) and discovery tool.
Consorcio Madroño Technical Director Ianko López explained, ”We decided that the market for SaaS-based library management platforms has reached a sufficient degree of maturity. As an institution committed to leading the way for library management in Spain, we should incorporate the selection, acquisition, and implementation of this type of technology into our strategic plan, which also calls for us to develop top-quality, user-oriented services. The close integration and rich feature sets provided by Alma and Primo will help us increase the efficiency of our processes and enhance the relationship between our members and their end users.”
Ofer Mosseri, corporate vice president and general manager of Ex Libris EMEA, commented, ”We are delighted to see our Alma community in Spain continue to grow with the addition of the Madrono consortium. The combination of the Alma platform and Primo solution will boost collaboration among the members of the Madrono community and enable them to take advantage of seamless workflows between the management, discovery, and delivery of all types of resources.”
